Согласно текущим предсказаниям проигрыш Дональда Трампа на выборах будет большим, чем у Митта Ромни в 2012.

Но по нескольким пунктам Трамп уже уверенно переиграл Ромни:

1. Постоянно обещая финансировать свою кампанию из своих собственных средств, Трамп потратил на неё меньше $50 миллионов. При этом он сумел собрать около $80 миллионов от малых доноров ($200 и меньше) - почти в два раза больше, чем Ромни.

2. Трамп сумел единолично убедить республиканцев, что свободная торговля - это плохо.



Он сумел убедить в этом американцев, которые пользуются плодами свободной торговли каждый день, покупая дешевые товары из Китая или дешёвые продукты из Мексики.

3. Трамп по всей видимости сумел убедить 50 миллионов евангелистов, что прелюбодеяние - это не грех. Его уровень поддержки среди белых евангелистов (+70%: 82% против 12%) заметно выше, чем у Ромни.

Trump leads by a wide, 82-12 percent margin among white evangelical protestants, slightly wider than Romney's 78-21 advantage in 2012. Clinton dominates among voters with no religious affiliation, leading by more than 3 to 1 (66 to 18 percent), a similar edge as Obama in 2012 (70-26).

4. Используя короткие обзывалки ("Low-energy Jeb", "Lyin' Ted", "Little Marco"), Трамп сумел вывести из строя своих республиканских соперников. Его обзывалка "Crooked Hillary" пока не сделала своего дела, но уже сумела так или иначе проникнуть в американское подсознание.
